Water-proof snap frames

Frames made from this new patented 35mm wide snap frame profile are waterproof and will protect paper posters from those unsightly damp patches in the corners which you can get with regular snap frames in wet weather.

Please note that condensation can occur within a waterproof snap frame whenever the ambient temperature falls below the dew point. It is advisable to print posters on a grade of paper, often referred to as waterproof paper, which is resistant to humidity.  Likewise, the ink used should be resistant to fading in sunlight if a poster is likely to be displayed outdoors for some time.  Please consult a printer for advice on this.

Waterproof snap frames are designed to be mounted onto a flat wall or surface so that the back is not exposed, as this may compromise the ability to remain waterproof. To mount on alternative surfaces such as fences and railings we recommend that you first mount the frame onto a rigid solid backing board, and then attach the backing board to your desired location.

Size Information for Waterproof Aluminium snap frames

• The width of the surround is 3.5cm = 35mm 
• Front to back depth of 35mm profile snap frame: 17mm
• A4 relates to the size of paper an A4 frame will fit.
• A narrow strip around the edge of your print is hidden when the frame is closed.
  Visible poster size: 4mm less than actual poster (i.e. 2mm all round your poster is hidden by the frame surround) 
• The overall size of the frame is larger than the paper inserted.

Fix snap frames using screws

• The best way to permanently fix snap frame is with screws.
• Screws and plastic wall plugs are included with every snap frame we supply
• The wall plugs are for use with masonry walls such as brick and most plastered walls 
• When screwing onto wood the plugs are not needed 
• A power drill and screwdriver are required for screw fixing (and we recommend using a spirit level and tape measure to ensure the frames are properly aligned). If in doubt please consult a proficient DIY or trades person.
